AB OBJECTIVE: To determine the effect of integrated FP/STD programme on
AIDS prevention in Sierra Leone. METHODS: Two Clinics in Freetown,
conducted both STD and Family Planning activities for two years.
Prevalence of HIV and STD was determined every year. RESULTS: The
prevalence of HIV among the attendants of these two Clinics, STD/FP
dropped from 18% to 8% and 14%-4% respectively. CONCLUSION: Integration
of the activities of two PHC programmes enhances the prevention of HIV
and other other STDs.
